Kromog is the final boss of The Black Forge wing of the Blackrock Foundry raid, and becomes accessible after players defeat Hans'gar & Franzok, and Flamebender Ka'graz. Kromog can be found in The Great Anvil.
This loot overview helps you plan out your Seal of Tempered Fate Bonus Rolls. Check out ourKromog database page to filter loot by difficulty as well as by loot specialization.
There are achievements for killing each Blackrock Foundry boss, as well as Highmaul bosses, on Mythic difficulty. Killing every boss rewards Mythic Draenor Raider, which allows you to place a special monument in your Garrison.
Flametwisters will attack random targets with Lava Blast, which splashes additional damage onto all players within 3 yards of the target. The raid should stay somewhat spread out.
Upon reaching 33% health, the Flametwisters will put up a Lava Shield and begin to cast Final Flame. When the Final Flame cast finishes, it will kill the Flametwister instantly, and deal heavy Fire damage to all players within 10 yards.
The ideal strategy would be for each tank to hold a Flametwister and keep them spread about 15 yards apart. Players can burn down one Flametwister, and when it activates Lava Shield and begins casting Final Flame, melee DPS can move to the other Flametwister add.
The Kromog encounter is a primarily single-target fight with moderate movement requirements and a mixture of avoidable and unavoidable damage. Most of the mechanics are simple and require players to move out of dangerous areas. However, one mechanic does require a bit of raid coordination: the Rune of Grasping Earth/Thundering Blows interaction:
Kromog will use Rune of Grasping Earth to summon many small stone hands, their locations marked by orange runes
Players must run to a nearby rune and ensure they are the only player standing on that rune
After a few seconds, the stone hands emerge and grab one player per rune, rooting the players
Players who are not grasped by Grasping Earth will take heavy Physical damage with each Thundering Blow, and will fly up into the air, suffering fatal fall damage upon landing
While a player is grasped by a Grasping Earth, they will suffer increasing Nature damage each second. The only way to break free of the Grasping Earth is by killing it; players should aim to kill Grasping Earth shortly after Thundering Blows ends. Classes with multi-DoT/wide-spread AoE abilities can assist in killing multiple Grasping Earths at once. Note that healers will be unable to deal enough damage to break themselves out, so DPS players will need to help.
Slam deals Physical damage to all players in the raid, but less damage is dealt to players who are farther away from Kromog; this damage is very high on tanks.
Rippling Smash is a cone attack that Kromog will aim at a random player, dealing heavy damage to players who remain in its path.
Reverberations will immediately follow Slam and Rippling Smash. This ability creates yellow sonic rings that fly out from Kromog in straight lines, dealing heavy damage to players caught in their path, but dissipate after passing through a player or pet.
Rune of Crushing Earth summons two large hands of stone, which will clap together after approximately 25 seconds. Kromog will summon a second set shortly before the clap occurs.
Shattered Earth will deal moderate Nature damage to four randomly-chosen players.
Stone Breath is channeled whenever Kromog does not have any valid melee targets in range, and is briefly channeled approximately every 30 seconds.
Move away from Crushing Earth runes
The Grasping Earth runes will be very spread out, and the raid should begin spreading out in advance of the mechanic to ensure that all players can reach a rune quickly. However, once players are freed from Grasping Earth, the raid should collapse back into one half of the room, maintaining a loose stack so that healers can heal off Slam damage efficiently. Be sure that the tank healers are close enough to Kromog that they are in range of the tanks.
The two tanks should stack on top of one another to split Kromog's Fists of Stone damage, and should taunt periodically to keep Warped Armor stacks low.
At 30% health, Kromog will gain Frenzy, dealing additional damage with all abilities, increasing his melee attack speed, and also increasing the frequency with which he uses his special abilities. This is the most difficult part of the fight, and the raid will need to save some powerful CDs to heal through any
